At last, Lowe Curran is making his way to the shelves and ethos. Not yet, but very, very soon. Who is Lowe Curran? And that’s Ker-in, not Kuur-an. It’s Irish—not that it matters. Who is he? Oh, come now. Haven’t you been paying attention? Marlowe Sam Curran, a name bestowed on him by his departed mother who had a thing for Raymond Chandler’s infamous hardboiled detective, Philip Marlowe. Actually, she had a bigger thing for Humphrey Bogart. So, I guess if I could have named him Humprey, but really? In today’s world. Ah, no.
Anyway, Lowe is a down on his luck, recovering government troubleshooter in Virginia. By recovering, I mean from being shot, blown up, and nearly killed years ago along the Voula Beach Road, Greece. He lost the love of his life, his career, and his dignity. Since then, he’s been a struggling PI and security consultant eking out a living. Now, he’s up against his past, a dangerous present, and trying to stop a future that could bring down the US. You know, a typical Friday night.
Now, here’s the deal… no, I am not Lowe Curran. Sure, sure, I had my first big adventure in the anti-terrorism world on the Voula Beach Road in Greece. Sure, sure, after leaving OSI on a series of high notes in my early career, I fell flat on my face and nearly went bankrupt and nearly lost my kids. Sure, yeah, I know, Curran’s a smartass, fly-by-the-seat-of-his-pants kinda guy who lives in a barn loft apartment, seeks thrills and his next big case and paycheck. Okay, so he also likes to surround himself with beautiful woman and big dogs. And yeah, I know, he creaks and groans with aging joints and graying hair. All in all, I simply don’t see the similarities—much.
